TEHRAN – The Chief Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned the United States, Israel, and their Daesh-style mercenaries that any miscalculation will be met with a decisive and crushing response.
In a statement, Major General Mohammad Pakpour said the IRGC remains at the highest level of readiness to dismantle “delusional plots” devised by the White House and Tel Aviv.
General Pakpour described those behind recent unrest as “Daesh-style mercenaries” operating under the direction of foreign powers.
“The powerful and popular IRGC is at the height of readiness to provide a decisive response to miscalculation by the enemy and their Daesh-style domestic mercenaries,” Pakpour stated.
“With reliance on Almighty God, under the leadership of the Leader, and through the sacred unity of the Iranian nation, we will nullify the schemes of the rulers in the White House and Tel Aviv against a ‘Strong Iran.’”
The IRGC commander identified US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the main architects of the recent bloodshed.
“Undoubtedly, Trump and Netanyahu are the killers of Iranian youth and the defenders of the state’s security,” the statement said.
He referred to Trump as a “criminal gambler” and “Nimrod of the time,” and Netanyahu as a “child-killer,” saying their “brutal crimes” across the Iranian homeland will never be forgotten and will be met with retaliation at the appropriate time.
General Pakpour also paid tribute to the massive nationwide rallies held on January 12, praising the “insight and courage” of Iranians who stood in solidarity with the martyrs of security.
He said the large public turnout at funeral ceremonies reflected the nation’s unshakable dignity and its firm refusal to bow to external pressure and state-sponsored terrorism.
Some Iranian cities have been the scene of foreign-backed rioting over the past few days, damaging public property and leaving a number of security forces and civilians dead.
Iran’s police officials say they’ve shown maximum restraint towards the rioting and tried hard to separate ordinary people concerned with the rising cost of living from rioters and terrorists attacking security forces.
Trump has, over the past few days, repeatedly threatened to attack Iran if the country kills what he has termed as “peaceful protesters”.
