- Election Results: No Changes from Exit Polls; PVV Leads with 37 Seats
- GroenLinks-PvdA came second with 25 seats, followed by VVD with 24, NSC with 20, and D66 with 9
AMSTERDAM: The Electoral Council confirmed on Friday that the final election results matched the exit polls from November 22. The PVV emerged as the largest party with 37 seats in the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of the Dutch parliament. GroenLinks-PvdA came second with 25 seats, followed by VVD with 24, NSC with 20, and D66 with 9.
The election saw a turnout of 77.7 percent, slightly lower than the previous two elections. Out of the 10,475,139 votes cast, 99.6 percent were valid. The Electoral Council investigated 140 reports of possible issues at 80 polling stations, but found no irregularities that would affect the integrity of the election.
The PVV received the most votes, with over 2.5 million people supporting the party. GroenLinks-PvdA and VVD got over 1.7 million and 1.6 million votes respectively. NSC, the new party led by Pieter Omtzigt, attracted nearly 1.4 million votes in its debut.
The D66 narrowly missed out on getting 10 seats, losing the last one by 160 votes. If 160 more voters across the country had chosen the party, it would have retained its double-digit representation in the parliament.
