Sadyr Zhaparov: Four Years of Hope, Growth, and New Horizons

0

Today marks exactly four years since Sadyr Zhaparov assumed the duties of President of the Kyrgyz Republic. These years have been a time of profound transformation, touching every aspect of the country’s life. However, the most significant achievement, as noted by both experts and ordinary citizens, is the return of hope and optimism to people’s hearts. As Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Edil Baisalov, stated, “The people have regained faith in a better future, and this is our most valuable achievement.”

Hope Driving the Nation

The optimistic mood of Kyrgyz citizens is confirmed not only by words but also by numbers. According to a social survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI) of the United States, 91% of respondents said that “the country is moving in the right direction.” This is a record figure, up from 82% last year and 85% in 2022. Sadyr Japarov’s personal approval rating has reached an incredible 95%, which, according to American researchers, is unparalleled among world leaders.
“This figure cannot but inspire,” writes Baisalov. “It reflects not only support for the president but also people’s belief that the country is moving forward.”

Economy: From Stabilization to Prosperity

When Japarov came to power, Kyrgyzstan was going through difficult times: the aftermath of the pandemic, economic decline, and political instability. However, by 2023, the country was already showing impressive results, with GDP growth of 9%. In 2024, GDP growth reached 10%, making it one of the highest rates not only in Central Asia but also across the entire post-Soviet space.
Inflation, which stood at 14.7% in 2022, dropped to 4.2% in the first 10 months of 2024, thanks to the prudent policies of the National Bank and the Ministry of Finance. These achievements were made possible by reforms aimed at supporting small and medium-sized businesses, attracting foreign investment, and developing key sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and mining.

People at the Center of Attention

Sadyr Zhaparov has repeatedly emphasized that the main wealth of Kyrgyzstan is its people. During his four years in office, large-scale programs in education and healthcare have been launched. The education budget has increased by 30%, allowing for the construction of 320 educational institutions, including 268 schools and 52 kindergartens. The “Kelechekke Salym” program provides orphans with 500,000 soms upon reaching adulthood.
In healthcare, the budget has doubled since 2020. Salaries for medical workers have increased by 50–100%, and in 2024, scholarships for interns and clinical residents were introduced. Over the past few years, 10 hospitals, 32 clinics, and eight CT scanners have been built. The opening of an interventional radiology center has significantly reduced mortality from cardiovascular diseases.

Political Stability and International Recognition

Zhaparov’s four years in office have been a period of political stability, which is crucial for the country’s development. The resolution of border disputes with neighboring countries such as Tajikistan and Uzbekistan has been an important step toward strengthening regional security. Kyrgyzstan is also actively participating in regional integration projects, such as the Eurasian Economic Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which opens new opportunities for trade and investment.
Particular attention should be paid to Zhaparov’s initiative to create the “Central Asian Green Corridor,” aimed at developing environmentally friendly technologies and combating climate change. At his initiative and with broad support from mountain partners, the “Five-Year Action Plan for the Development of Mountain Regions for 2023–2027” is currently being implemented. These initiatives have received support from the UN and serve as an example of how a small country can make a significant contribution to solving global problems.

Infrastructure and Industry: New Horizons

Over the past three years, 2,399.5 km of roads have been repaired in Kyrgyzstan, including projects in remote regions. Construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway has begun, which will become an important link in the region’s transport network. In the energy sector, 33 small hydropower plants have been commissioned, and the reconstruction of the Toktogul HPP will add 240 MW by 2025.
Industrial production grew by 9% in 2023, with further growth expected in 2024. For the first time in the country, the production of automobiles, standardized gold bars, and pharmaceutical products has begun. The “Kumtor” project has brought significant profits over the past three years after transitioning to state management.

A Country That Believes in Itself

Sadyr Zhaparov’s four years in office have been a time of bold reforms and new opportunities for Kyrgyzstan. His leadership, based on principles of justice, transparency, and care for citizens, has inspired millions of people to work constructively and believe in a better future. Today, Kyrgyzstan is a country confidently moving forward, overcoming challenges, and opening new horizons.
As Zhaparov himself said in one of his speeches: “Our path is one of prosperity, and we will walk it together, step by step, with faith in our strength and love for our country.” These words seem to be becoming a reality for Kyrgyzstan, which, under his leadership, continues to write a new chapter in its history.
