Uzbekistan: Tuition fees paid by parents for children of all ages are Income Tax exempt

TASHKENT: The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law that changed and added to some laws.The Customs Code now says that customs duties that are not for customs clearance are paid in the customs area.The Tax Code now says that tax reports are kept for 3 years (before – 5 years).

During a desk tax audit, except for value added tax refunds, tax officers cannot:enter the taxpayer’s land;check the taxpayer’s land and buildings;ask for documents from the taxpayer and call them;take the taxpayer’s documents and things”;

Now, tax offenses must be dealt with in 3 years; after 3 years, no one can be punished for the offense (before – 5 years).

Parents do not pay income tax on money they pay for their children’s education at any age in professional and higher education places.

Before, income tax was not charged on money for children under 26 years old.

These tax benefits will last until 31 December 2028:people – residents and non-residents of Uzbekistan do not pay personal income tax on dividends from shares they own (shareholders);companies – non-residents of Uzbekistan pay 5 percent income tax on dividends from shares they own (shareholders);people and companies – residents and non-residents of Uzbekistan do not pay personal income tax and profit tax on interest from bonds of business entities.
