TASHKENT,Uzbekistan Oct 27/LP Correspondent/Voting in Uzbekistan is proceeding peacefully,Naveed Miraj, a Journalist from Pakistan, told London Post.
“Today, I am observing the electoral process in Uzbekistan. I would like to commend the Central Election Commission for executing the voting with remarkable smoothness, peace, and exceptional organization,” he said.
“Everyone is in a very positive mood. People are actively coming to vote in the elections. Moreover, all conditions have been created for comfortable voting. There are no difficulties,” she said.
Mr.Naveed Miraj also highlighted that electronic voting equipment has been installed at the polling stations and is functioning without any issues.
“The election is being conducted democratically, and all media outlets are free to cover the voting process,” he added.
The Pakistani Observer underscored that both the people and the government of Uzbekistan are guiding the nation towards a prosperous future. He further said that the government is committed to advancing national development and improving the quality of life for its citizens.
To note, polling stations have opened in Uzbekistan for election to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the country and to local kengashes (councils) of people’s deputies on October 27.Polling stations are open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (GMT+5), with preliminary results expected on October 28.
Five parties are participating in the elections: the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen – Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party “Milliy Tiklanish,” Ecological Party, People’s Democratic Party, and Social Democratic Party “Adolat.”
This year’s elections are being held according to a mixed electoral system in line with the updated Constitution and national electoral legislation. This system provides for 75 members of the Legislative Chamber to be elected in single-mandate constituencies using majoritarian electoral system, while the remaining 75 members will be elected using the proportional representation electoral system with party lists.
