Pakistan perhaps is the only country whose politicians and elite criticise, undermine and demonise its security institutions while rest of the world glamourize their police, armed forces and intelligence agencies in TV series, movies and books. ‘Memo Gate’ Scandal by Asif Zardari’s PPP government and ‘Dawn Leaks’ by Maryam Nawaz Sharif in PML-N government had same target security institutions and Armed forces of Pakistan.
Imran Khan need to invest and empower security and intelligence institutions if he wants to win war against the organised criminals and mafias now become ‘security threat’.
In past 40 years land mafia has specially targeted armed forces and security agencies for their criminal aims and objectives, be it brother of former Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani or close relatives of Generals, police officials and judges. This impression and perception of induction of security establishment into land mafias have removed the fear of criminal elements as well as undermine the agencies. A state official is responsible to protect the interest of the state 24 hours with or without uniform. Those who are issuing orders to staff not to indulge must be investigated for conflict of interest.
I have no doubt about the sincerity of prime minister Imran Khan’s war against mafias and corruption. He should be supported by all the patriotic elements. In 2010 I received a phone call from a senior editor of an international magazine stating: ‘you should help Imran Khan as he is struggling and under attack from MQM-A, PPP, Nawaz Sharif and their paid hostile media’. I never attended his meetings or met Imran Khan in my life but fully supported his stance against MQM-A terrorism and Altaf Hussain. Finally, I met Imran Khan at Westminster at Henry Jackson Society event where I asked him a short question and he gave an appropriate answer. After the event as I was going for tea with my friend Mohammad Sarwar MP (now Governor Punjab), and Amir Ghauri (Geo News), I gently put my hand on Imran Khan’s shoulder and introduced myself. He has been reading my articles in The London Post and it was easy to break the ice. We spoke about MQM-A money laundering and its nasty campaign. He asked his senior political worker Rabia Zia to liaise with me and take me to the lawyer dealing with the case. Later Rabia Zia and I did meet with the lawyer. We kept in touch since than and war against MQM terrorism and money laundering continued.
It is every one’s duty to fight play a role the in fight against mafias, crime and corruption with or without uniform, on or off duty. I was surprised to learn that someone issued a letter in security establishment as not to challenge ‘land mafia’. Does it mean that land mafia has infiltrated into the security establishment? One would expect a through investigation into as why someone issuing such instructions to facilitate and remove the fear from the criminals in land mafia? It is a fact that money generated from land mafias was used in terrorist financing.

The fear that FBI and CIA are watching reduce the crimes and keep people safe. In a state like Pakistan where rule is might is right politicians over the years since 1990s starting from Benazir Bhutto all have clipped the wings, of security agencies by under funding them, removing talented officers and inducting corrupt elements. That’s why officers have dared to issue such kind of instructions. In UK a person can do a citizen’s arrest if he sees a crime is being committed but in Pakistan officials are issuing instructions to turn a blind eye to land mafia and criminals.

Yet Prime Minister Imran Khan asked US twice in a week to lift sanctions on Iran. This is different type of ‘parallel secret government’ and mafia controlling Pakistan while establishment busy in appeasement or colluding with incestuous ‘swingers and swappers’?

The toxic advisers of prime minister are playing for the teams across the borders. As far as Pakistan armed forces are concerns, they are very clear about Iran and its pro India policies. A senior General told me in London: “Iran is our neighbour and Saudi Arabia is our friend”.
