Uzbekistan’s Parliamentary Election sees High Voter turnout

TASHKENT,Uzbekistan Oct 27(LP Correspondent) – Voting in Uzbekistan’s parliamentary election was notably active, according to observers from various polling stations, London Post reports.A member of the election commission at polling station No. 110 Maktab, located in the Tashkent , noted that both older and younger generations participated enthusiastically, with no violations observed during the voting process.

Chairman of polling station,Zukhriddin Mamatkulov, No. 108 at the Tashkent Institute of Pharmacy, highlighted that 60% of voters at his station were students, who came to vote with joy and awareness.

Polling stations opened on October 27 for the election to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (parliament) and local kengashes (councils) of people’s deputies. Five parties are participating: the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen – Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party “Milliy Tiklanish,” Ecological Party, People’s Democratic Party, and Social Democratic Party “Adolat.”

This year’s election is conducted under a mixed electoral system, in line with the updated Constitution and national electoral legislation. Seventy-five members of the Legislative Chamber will be elected in single-mandate constituencies using a majoritarian system, while the remaining 75 members will be elected through proportional representation with party lists.

A notable aspect of this year’s election is the full digitalization of the process through the “E-Saylov” information system. Over 850 foreign and international observers, including missions from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), are monitoring the election process.
