Brazilian Football Icon Dani Alves arrested on Sexual Assault Charges

(RT)-Brazilian football star Dani Alves was reportedly arrested in Barcelona last month after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a nightclub in the city.

The 39-year-old Alves was questioned at a police station in the Lecortu district of the Catalan capital, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

Defense attorneys will appear in court to answer allegations that he touched a patron at Barcelona nightclub Sutton on December 31. Alves categorically denies the allegations against him.

Alves is considered the most awarded footballer of all time with 42 trophies to his name during his career playing for Barcelona, ​​Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and more. He has also made 126 appearances for Brazil, most recently at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Alves currently plays for Mexican team Pumas. The footballer was reportedly traveling from Mexico to Spain after the death of his wife’s mother, who was born in Tenerife.

According to the Daily Mail, Alves allegedly arranged a police interview through his lawyer and was arrested and fingerprinted as part of the routine procedure. He was questioned before being brought to court for further questioning about the alleged sexual assault. Alves had the most successful period of his career at Barcelona, ​​winning six Liga titles alongside Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernández and Andrés Iniesta, and scoring a hat-trick in the Champions League.
