BRUSSELS(LP Correspondent)-In a powerful display of solidarity, thousands congregate in Brussels to support Palestinians. The ‘Stop the Massacre in Gaza’ rally featured passionate chants calling upon the European Union to facilitate a ceasefire and lift the Israeli blockade on Gaza. Demonstrators, numbering around 40,000 according to organizers and 12,000 according to police, also urged European authorities to extend both political and financial support to the International Criminal Court’s inquiry into the situation in Palestine. The Gaza conflict, which has endured Israeli bombardment and blockade since October 7, began with Hamas’ Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. This operation involved a multifaceted surprise offensive, including rocket launches and incursions into Israel by land, sea, and air. It was initiated in response to the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and increasing violence by Israeli settlers.”
Demonstrators gathered outside the headquarters of the European Commission, which has been steadfast in its support of Israel since the conflict began just over two weeks ago.
People waved Palestinian flags and held up placards calling for a ceasefire to stop the deaths of more civilians in the territory.
