CIS meeting in St. Petersburg focuses on cooperation, Tajikistan to lead in 2025

ST.PETERSBURG,Russia.dec 26/Correspondent LP/-An informal meeting of the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) took place in St. Petersburg on December 25. Among the attendees was the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.

In the opening remarks of the meeting address, President Rahmon expressed his gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the invitation and hospitality. He also extended New Year greetings to the CIS leaders. President Rahmon emphasized the importance of cooperation within the Commonwealth and reiterated Tajikistan’s commitment to strengthening the partnership.

President Rahmon reminded the attendees that Tajikistan will assume the chairmanship of the CIS starting January 2025. He expressed confidence that the proposed concept and plan of activities, along with the support of other member countries, will ensure the successful fulfillment of this role.

The leaders discussed key issues on the international and regional agenda, including measures to enhance cooperation within the CIS.
