LONDON: Eurotunnel, renowned for its Channel Tunnel service between Folkestone and Calais, is set to broaden its network, introducing train routes to Germany and Switzerland in the coming years. The Chief Executive of Getlink, Yann Leriche, anticipates the readiness of these new routes by 2028. The proposed journeys, taking approximately five to six hours by train, would connect London with cities like Cologne, Frankfurt (Germany), as well as Geneva and Zurich (Switzerland). Leriche emphasizes that these routes aim to provide a faster and more convenient alternative to air travel, fostering increased competition and potentially lowering fares. Additionally, discussions are underway with other potential operators interested in utilizing the Channel Tunnel for their services.
