TEHRAN – The primary phase of a multinational naval war game, involving Iran and seven other countries, is set to commence in the northern regions of the Indian Ocean on March 12. The key participants in the exercise, dubbed Maritime Security Belt 2024, will be Iran, Russia, and China.
The upcoming war game will also see the participation of naval forces from Oman, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and South Africa.
The drill, scheduled to take place in the northern parts of the Indian Ocean, aims to bolster regional security, foster collective cooperation, demonstrate the capacity to provide unified support for global peace and maritime security, and establish a maritime community sharing a common destiny.
The drill participants will engage in exercises to enhance international maritime trade security, combat piracy and maritime terrorism, implement humanitarian actions, exchange information on naval rescue and relief operations, and share operational and tactical experiences.
This drill, taking place tomorrow, will represent the fifth joint exercise involving Iran, Russia, and China in recent years.
