NAIROBI, Kenya.Feb 15(Gareth Stamp) – Nairobi’s Carnivore Grounds pulsated with the vibrant rhythms of the Bob Collymore International Jazz Festival. The festival showcased a stellar lineup of both local and international artists, delivering performances that left the audience in awe.

Judah and The Tribe, led by the charismatic trumpeter Judah Onesimus, captivated attendees with their unique blend of Afro-jazz rhythms and soulful melodies. Their electrifying performance resonated deeply, earning them widespread acclaim.

The Kaima Mwiti Quintet, featuring the talented saxophonist Kaima Mwiti, delivered a masterful set that seamlessly fused traditional jazz elements with contemporary sounds, showcasing the depth of Kenya’s jazz scene.

International acts added a global flair to the event. Mozambican saxophonist Moreira Chonguiça enthralled the crowd with his dynamic performance, while Germany’s Stephanie Lottermoser brought a unique European jazz perspective, weaving personal narratives through her music. The Ethiopian Bėga Quartet enriched the festival with their fusion of jazz and authentic East African musical cultures, creating a harmonious blend that resonated with the diverse audience.

 

The festival not only celebrated musical excellence but also supported a noble cause. Proceeds from the event were directed towards the Ghetto Classics program, providing music education to underprivileged youth in Kenya.
