Addressing event attendees, Tokayev invited UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to host a major international event to address pressing issues on a global scale.

The President spoke about the prospects for developing renewable and alternative energy sources in Kazakhstan. “The abundance of wind and sun, as well as the vast territory of the country, allows Kazakhstan to become a leader in this field and contribute to global climate protection efforts.In this regard, Kazakhstan has improved its regulatory framework. , creating the most attractive conditions for investors: the country plans to introduce 6.5 gigawatts of renewable energy resources by 2035. Green hydrogen is also a promising area. The family believes that Kazakhstan can become the world’s largest hydrogen exporter,” Tokaev said. The President emphasized the importance of using nuclear energy as one of the most important energy sources to minimize greenhouse gas emissions.
“Kazakhstan is the world’s largest uranium producer. The country produces its nuclear fuel components domestically and has sufficient capacity to promote the safe use of nuclear energy. It is a very promising area for trade and investment at the regional and global level.”
Planting forests is an integral part of strategies to mitigate climate change, Tokayev said. Kazakhstan has endorsed the Declaration on Forests and Land Use adopted at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow. The country has also launched a large-scale project to plant 2 billion trees by 2025. Last year he planted 282 million trees, and another 410 million are expected to be planted this year.
The president reiterated that Kazakhstan, the world’s seventh largest grain producer, intends to use its agricultural potential to improve global food security.
“Kazakhstan is working with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to provide flour to the Afghan people as a humanitarian aid. In this regard, we call for active cooperation with the Islamic Food Security Organization to help emerging countries ensure food security,” the president said.
Mr. Tokayev encouraged the summit participants to implement green projects, mobilize ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) investments and work together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
