TEHRAN,Iran:Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has issued a stern warning to those who planned and executed the twin terrorist attacks in Kerman, a southeastern city in Iran, that they will face a severe and certain retribution. “In yet another act of wickedness and crime, the enemies of the Iranian nation have caused a disaster, martyring a large number of dear people in Kerman,” the Leader said in a statement on Wednesday. The enemies must realize that the followers of Soleimani’s bright path will not stand their atrocity and injustice and both the blood-stained hands and the evil and deceitful brains that guided them will be pursued and subjected to a “fitting punishment” from now on.

The statement came hours after two blasts targeted the mourners who were heading to pay tribute to Qassem Soleimani, a top Iranian general who was killed four years ago on this day in a US drone strike near Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. “The heartless criminals could not bear the people’s affection and passion for visiting the grave of their great leader, martyr Qassem Soleimani,” the Leader said.
