Kyrgyzstan sets up donor committee for Kambarata-1 HPP project

BISHKEK/Максуда Ормонова LP correspondent/ -In a significant development, the Kyrgyz Republic has announced the formation of a donor coordination committee dedicated to the Kambarata-1 Hydropower Plant project.

Following the International Investment Energy Forum held in Vienna, it was declared that the committee had been established to oversee the construction of the Kambarata-1 Hydropower Plant.

The newly formed committee comprises prominent international financial institutions including the World Bank, the OPEC Fund, the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The inaugural meeting of the committee is scheduled for this autumn.

Moreover, the Energy Ministries of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan have reached an interdepartmental agreement to collaborate on the Kambarata-1 HPP initiative subsequent to the forum.

Additionally, the Kyrgyz Republic has entered into a partnership with the International Finance Corporation, a constituent of the World Bank Group, signing agreements for the second phase of a solar power venture and for the funding of enhancements to the Dolinka substation along with the refurbishment of the Rechnaya substation.
