London pays tribute to legendary Veena Maestro Dr. Emani Sankara Sastry

The city of London came together in a heartfelt tribute to honor the legendary veena maestro, Dr. Emani Sankara Sastry, in a mesmerizing musical event held at Nehru Centre London. The evening was a celebration of the maestro’s extraordinary life and profound contributions to the world of Indian classical music.
The tribute paid by Emani Kalyani, the daughter of world-renowned Veena Vituoso Mahamahopadhyaya Padmashri Dr. Emani Shankara Shastry. His centenary was celebrated across the globe in the year 2022.
As a tribute to the Veena Maestro Emani Shankara Shastry, Emani Kalyani, who is a senior ICCR empanelled artiste and a world-renowned artiste herself, presented a concert with her daughter Padmini Pasumarthy.
They presented the traditional Veena concert. Veena is an ancient Indian instrument.
The concert started with a Varnam that encapsulates the key features of a raga, considered as an important composition to be presented in a traditional Carnatic concert. Followed by keerthanams, composed by various saintly composers, singing the glory of God.
As London paid tribute to this legendary veena maestro, Dr. Emani Sankara Sastry’s legacy was honored, and his music was celebrated, ensuring that his indelible mark on the world of music remains alive and cherished for years to come.

Music program that attracted participants from all walks of life, including a significant number of local British citizens. Indian citizens residing in London enthusiastically joined the event, bringing their children along to introduce them to their rich culture and traditions.
