ISLAMABAD — President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in Pakistan on his first state visit, marking a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Tokayev landed at Nur Khan Airbase, where he was formally welcomed by Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to The London Post, citing Pakistani media reports.
He is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior cabinet members and top government officials.
During the visit, President Tokayev is set to hold high-level meetings with Pakistan’s leadership and deliver a keynote address at the Pakistan–Kazakhstan Business Forum, highlighting the growing economic dimension of bilateral ties.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office described the visit as a timely and important opportunity to undertake a comprehensive review of relations between the two countries. Discussions are expected to focus on exploring new avenues of cooperation, particularly in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as reviewing collaboration at regional and international forums.
The Foreign Office added that the visit reflects the deepening partnership between Kazakhstan and Pakistan, their shared commitment to transforming historical and cultural links into practical cooperation, and their mutual aspiration for peace, stability, and development in the region.
