ASTANA, Jan 09 (AstanaTimes) – China and Kazakhstan continue to strengthen their relationship, characterized by mutual trust and cooperation, said China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun during a Jan. 7 press conference in Beijing.

Reflecting on Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s Jan. 3 interview about relations with foreign partners, including China, Guo highlighted that 2024 marked a significant year for China-Kazakhstan relations, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s press service.

“China and Kazakhstan are good neighbors bound together by mountains and rivers, good friends sharing a high degree of mutual trust, and good partners enabling each other’s success. As President Tokayev noted, our cooperation has evolved into a dynamic and multifaceted relationship. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Tokayev, our cooperation in various fields has entered the fast lane,” Guo stated.

Last year, President Xi’s state visit to Kazakhstan resulted in new agreements with President Tokayev, boosting bilateral cooperation. The two countries have seen frequent high-level visits and stronger trade and economic ties. Cooperation in industrial capacity, connectivity, agriculture, and new energy is progressing well. Cultural and people-to-people exchanges have also seen significant growth, with two-way travel reaching new heights.

“In the new year, China is ready to work with Kazakhstan to align our development strategies, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, ensure the success of major events, and translate our leaders’ common understandings into tangible outcomes, taking China-Kazakhstan relations to new heights,” Guo concluded.
