LONDON, Nov 15 (Reuters) – The Royal Air Force(RAF) reported on Friday that British jets intercepted a Russian aircraft approaching the UK’s airspace. This event follows the recent detection of Russian military vessels navigating the English Channel by the Royal Navy.

British Armed Forces Minister Luke Pollard reinforced the nation’s defense resolve, stating, “Our adversaries should be in no doubt of our steadfast determination and formidable ability to protect the UK.”

Increased monitoring and swift response by the UK military underscore the ongoing vigilance required to safeguard national security amid rising geopolitical tensions.

The Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force (RAF) routinely monitor the movements of Russian warships and aircraft near the UK’s waters and airspace, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) has reported.

According to the MOD, this marks the second occasion in three months that the RAF and Royal Navy have detected Russian military activity within a week. On Thursday, two RAF Typhoons observed a Russian Bear-F bomber aircraft flying over the North Sea. Concurrently, the Royal Navy tracked two separate groups of Russian military vessels, totalling five ships, heading towards the Atlantic and the Baltic.

The increased surveillance underscores the ongoing vigilance of the UK’s armed forces in response to international military movements.
