A South Korean woman visiting Hong Kong became the victim of a disturbing incident involving alleged molestation by an individual believed to be of Indian nationality. The unsettling encounter was captured on camera as the woman was live streaming her experience.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media platforms, the woman can be seen growing increasingly uncomfortable as a man persistently attempts to persuade her to accompany him. The woman, who is a vlogger, had been documenting her trip to Hong Kong when the man approached her. Initially, he appeared to be seeking assistance, but his behavior took a concerning turn as he began to pressure her. Repeatedly, he implored her, saying, “Listen, listen baby, come with me,” while attempting to physically restrain her.

The woman, clearly distressed, repeatedly declined his advances, firmly stating “NO, NO, NO.” Despite her clear refusal, the man continued to coerce her, even following her down a subway stairwell. At one point, he cornered her against a wall and persisted in his actions. Desperate for help, the woman cried out, “help me,” prompting the man to flee the scene. The incident unfolded in real-time, with the woman’s followers reacting and commenting on the situation.

In the aftermath of the incident, Hong Kong Police arrested a 46-year-old suspect on Tuesday, September 12, as reported by the South China Morning Post. The accused, identified as a waiter, was apprehended on suspicion of indecent assault and behavior that outraged public decency.

Some social media users have identified the man in the video as Amit Jariyal, hailing from Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. These individuals have called for action against him, urging Rajasthan Rifles, a restaurant in Hong Kong where the accused was formerly employed, to take appropriate measures. However, the restaurant released a statement clarifying that he was no longer part of their team and emphasized their disapproval of such behavior.

“This individual is not part of the Rajasthan Rifles team or the Black Sheep community and has not been for one year. We deplore and do not tolerate this type of behavior,” the statement read.

The video of the incident has circulated widely on social media, eliciting widespread condemnation and calls for action against the accused. On platforms like Reddit, users expressed the need for law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the individual seen in the footage.

“I know it’s easy for me to say, but this needs reporting to the police. Even if she’s still shaken up, at least someone else can report him. He’s on camera with his face in full view: this should be easy for the police,” commented one Reddit user. The incident has sparked considerable outrage and has raised important questions about the safety of female content creators.

“Can anyone get the girl some support? This is a truly traumatic experience. People who experience sexual harassment are at a very high risk of developing PTSD,” wrote another Reddit user.

This incident bears similarities to a disturbing occurrence from December of the previous year when a South Korean YouTuber faced harassment by a man on the streets of Mumbai during one of her online live streams. Video footage captured the man grabbing the YouTuber’s hand and attempting to kiss her while she was recording. Subsequently, two individuals were apprehended in connection with that incident.
