Tajikistan reshuffles Foreign Ministry officials

DUSHANBE:The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan announced a series of officials changes. Nasreddin Ismatullo, the former ambassador to Pakistan and Bangladesh, was relieved of his duties and transferred to another job. His replacement has not been named yet.

Meanwhile, two new deputy ministers of foreign affairs were appointed: the first Deputy Minister, who was not identified by name, and Farrukh Homiddin Sharifzoda, who previously served as the ambassador to Iran.

The ministry did not provide any reasons for the reshuffle or the new assignments of the officials. Tajikistan, a landlocked country in Central Asia, maintains diplomatic relations with more than 140 countries and is a member of several regional and international organizations.

Tajikistan’s foreign policy is based on the principles of openness, peace-seeking and cooperation with all countries, and it may seek to appoint new ambassadors to enhance its relations with its regional and international partners.
