Today, the heads of foreign affairs of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Jeyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan, will meet in Washington. Of course, the meeting is expected to be in a tense atmosphere. In my opinion, it is possible to have certain agreements between the parties. But as for whether there will be any effects on the implementation of these agreements, it is possible to say that many states have interests in the South Caucasus. Therefore, based on previous experience, I can say that the implementation of the agreements to be reached does not seem very possible and realistic. It should also be mentioned that after this fight, Russia announced that it will organize a meeting. The current situation in Armenia suggests that the government is trying to buy time due to the tense internal situation. This political line is unacceptable for official Baku. Azerbaijan is already taking its legal steps and therefore does not intend to consult with anyone and does not do so. It is possible to say that the Control Release Point established by the Azerbaijan State Security Service on the bridge located on the Hekari River at the beginning of the conventional state border with Armenia is a clear message to the current government in Armenia, to Azerbaijani citizens of Armenian origin living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, and to the states that have an interest in the region. Of course, now the choice is Armenia’s. Either he will sit down at the table of peace negotiations without being exposed to external provocations and accept the conditions put forward by Azerbaijan and in accordance with international law, or he will create conditions for a long-term conflict in the region, which will ultimately harm Armenia. Because Azerbaijan already fully implements the protection of its borders. In other words, Azerbaijan does not have any concerns in this matter. Regarding the delimitation and demarcation of the borders, it is possible to emphasize that the situation here is still under the control of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. I believe that at the Washington meeting, the parties, including Armenia, will negotiate knowing the current situation. Otherwise, as the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev noted, “we do not need meaningless negotiations”.
