Kassym-Joomart Tokayev nominated as candidate for President of Kazakhstan

ASTANA:The National Volunteer Network of Kazakhstan and the Civil Alliance took the initiative to nominate current President Kassym-Joomart Tokayev as a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections,media reported.

“We are holding a general meeting of the National Volunteer Network, and we want to take the initiative to nominate current head of state Kassym-Joomart Tokayev on behalf of all our volunteer organizations,” the volunteer network said in a statement.

“The support of Tokayev’s candidacy is necessary for the ongoing large-scale reforms” in the country”.

The Civic Alliance supported the initiative. 26 out of 26 members of the organization voted for Tokayev’s candidacy.

Tokayev signed a decree on holding presidential elections in Kazakhstan on September 21. The head of state reformed the political system of the country. According to the new constitution, the president is elected for seven years, but only for one term.
