The First High Level Summit of the Organization of Turkic States begins in Samarkand. The main tasks have been particularly determined in the adopted strategic document “Turkish World Vision 2040”. The focus of the organization is on such issues as ensuring the transport dependence of countries, simplification of customs and transport procedures, including digitization.
Uzbekistan greatly focuses on the significance of the development of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics with the countries of the Organization of Turkic
States (TDT). Each of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States is pursuing its own policy on the construction of internal transport infrastructure and participation in international transport. However, in practice, in the conditions of lack of investment resources and limited cargo base, the best results are achieved by cooperation of neighboring countries and coordination of their activities within the framework of integrated projects.
Therefore, enhancing the connection of transport communications of the countries that are members of the Organization of Turkic States is an important focus area in the development of transport and logistics.
In the period of independence, particular attention is paid to the connection of transport communications of the countries that are members of the Organization of Turkic States is an important direction in the development of transport and logistics.
Focused on unifying the territories of the Republic of Uzbekistan into a single transport system, solving transport and communication problems, and actively solving the issues of developing transport corridors that ensure the exit of goods to seaports located in the south, east and west of the world, not only the introduction of advanced cutting-edge techniques and technologies, but also the need to increase the efficiency of logistics and information technologies, as well as the development of foreign economic activity, the need to search for new optimal corridors has become an urgent issue.
Taking into account the socio-economic importance of transport, the fact that it is a necessary condition for the globalization of the economy and society, it is clear that the development of transport systems and raising efficiency of their use is considered an urgent issue. In reliance upon this fact, the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan pays particular attention to the development of transport corridors because they serve to develop foreign economic relations. The geographical location of Uzbekistan increases the possibilities of creating promising transport corridors directed from West to East and from South to North, and effective use of existing corridors because they serve to develop foreign economic relations.
This connection is represented by the development of international transport corridors (XTY) in a concentrated form, which form national communications as separate units. Their formation reflects both the strengthening of the interaction of individual types of transport within the framework of multimodal technologies and regional economic integration.
The Republic of Uzbekistan is located in the center of the Central Asian region, has high advantages with a developed railway and highway network, and so far remains the only route to the broad-gauge railway network for Afghanistan. Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan have stronger transit potential due to their economic potential and geographic location, including access to the Caspian Sea.
Under conditions of modernization of the economy, development does not stand still, the strong competitive environment, the strength of the flow of offers for transit transportation of goods cannot fail to have its effect. It is important to analyze the reasons for the decrease of transit cargo through the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan within the framework of external economic factors.
The transport network occupies a strategically important place for the economy of Uzbekistan, it accounts for 6.4% of the GDP, 30% of the service sector, and 7.4% of investments.
Over the past 5 years, despite the pandemic and related restrictions in the transport sector, Uzbekistan has increased the volume of freight by 25% Over the past 3 years, due to the liberalization of the air transport market, the number of companies operating flights to Uzbekistan has doubled. The share of domestic carriers in the volume of international road freight transport reached 62 percent. 300 km of railways were electrified, 1.5 thousand km of highways were built.
Currently, the transport system of Uzbekistan is on the way to establishing effective cooperation between different types of transport and developing multimodal transport, eliminating natural barriers and improving transport management, therefore digitization of internal and external transit transport, introduction of digital vehicles in the field of logistics is underway.
