DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) The head of Iran’s nuclear program said that the Iranian government would cooperate with international inspectors on any “new activity”. His testimony follows an exclusive AP report on Tehran’s new underground tunnel system near its nuclear enrichment facility.

The Associated Press reported this week that new tunnels near the Natanz facility are deep in the mountains and likely beyond the range of the ultimate U.S. weapon designed to destroy such facilities.

The report sparked widespread debate about construction across the Middle East. Israel’s national security adviser said Tuesday that the site is not immune to attack, even if its depth makes it beyond reach of US airstrikes.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency’s Mohammad Eslami told reporters after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday that the interest in the site was an example of Israel’s feeling of pressure.
