TEHRAN,July 29 (MNA) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has condemned Israel as a modern embodiment of Nazism, asserting that Iran’s response to recent Israeli aggression was an exercise of its right to self-defence. Speaking at the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland, hosted by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in collaboration with the United Nations, Ghalibaf described the situation in Gaza as a humanitarian catastrophe comparable to the darkest chapters of history.

“Gaza is not merely a piece of land; it is a slaughterhouse born of a cruel and sinister mindset that engulfs humanity,” Ghalibaf said, according to Press TV. He accused Israel of waging a “systematic massacre” rather than a conventional war, urging global action to halt what he termed the “Nazis of the 21st century” before oppression overwhelms humanity.

Ghalibaf called for addressing the root causes and consequences of the Gaza conflict, warning that Israel’s actions threaten not only Iran’s sovereignty but also regional and global stability. He criticised the inaction of international bodies, particularly the UN Security Council, stating, “The failure of these institutions to respond raises serious doubts about their credibility and effectiveness in maintaining peace.”

He defended Iran’s retaliatory measures during the 13–25 June conflict, stressing that they were conducted independently of international institutions or assurances from major powers, in line with Iran’s right to self-defence.
