BISHKEK: The European Union has granted €3 million (equivalent to 295 million soms) to the Kyrgyz Republic’s Cabinet of Ministers as budgetary support for digital transformation, as reported by the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic.

These grant funds are intended to advance the operations of the Innovation Center of Digital Competencies within the High Technology Park, expand the Sanarip Aimak/Digital Aimak system across the country to deliver electronic services to citizens, bolster the nation’s cybersecurity, and safeguard personal data through the newly established State Agency for Personal Data Protection under the Cabinet of Ministers.

The budgetary support in this domain will be channeled towards software development and database upkeep in various ministries, as well as fostering the digital economy nationwide. Furthermore, the budgetary support is complemented by training programs for public officials, facilitated by member states of the European Union, to encourage e-governance, transparency, and accountability, according to the statement.
