ISLAMABAD (AP) December,4 – The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for a shooting at the Pakistani embassy in Afghanistan, leaving a security guard wounded while those responsible for the mission fled unharmed.

In a brief statement late Saturday, IS said two fighter jets in the courtyard of the Pakistani embassy attacked “a rogue Pakistani ambassador and his security guards”, injuring the guards and damaging the building. No further details were provided.

Pakistani security guard Israr Mohammad, a member of the army’s special forces, was wounded in Friday’s attack in the Afghan capital Kabul. However, the person in charge of the mission, Ubaid-ul Rehman Nizamaniit, was unharmed. The attack comes amid growing tensions between neighbouring South Asian countries over claims in Islamabad that anti-Pakistani government forces are organizing militant attacks from their Afghan hideouts.
