Taiwan earthquake:Death toll increases to 10

TAIPEI CITY,Taiwan – Buildings in Wanhua District were damaged in the quake, with some residents ordered to evacuate and one building facing possible demolition.

The National Emergency Response Center reported that the aftermath of Wednesday’s 7.2 magnitude earthquake has resulted in a death toll of 10. Furthermore, there were 1,099 reported injuries and 15 individuals are still missing. Additionally, 705 people are currently trapped due to the disaster.

The most recent casualty, who was earlier reported as missing, was a male hiker on the Xiaozhuilu Trail in Hualien County. His body was discovered beneath rocks and was removed from the site later in the day.

The Taroko National Park management office confirmed that all 17 hikers who had registered their details with them have been accounted for.
