The UN says 40% of Ukrainians need humanitarian aid this year, OCHA reported on Jan. 9. This does not count the 6.3 million who fled the country.

OCHA’s Deputy Spokesperson Jens Laerke announced this at a press briefing in Geneva. He also said that on Jan. 15, OCHA and UNHCR will launch their 2024 plan to help Ukraine.

Laerke said Ukraine faced a wave of attacks since Dec. 29 and a harsh winter. He said a large humanitarian operation was urgently needed.
