Leaders arrive in Saudi Arabia for GCC—Central Asia summit

JEDDAH: Presidents Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan landed in Jeddah on Tuesday, marking their visit to the Kingdom to partake in a summit between the Gulf Cooperation Council and Central Asian nations scheduled for Wednesday.

Upon their arrival, both presidents were warmly welcomed by Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the deputy governor of the Makkah region.

In the meantime, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan embarked on a visit to Madinah, where he offered prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque ahead of the upcoming summit. Subsequently, he proceeded to Jeddah.

Adding to the delegation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow of Turkmenistan and President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan arrived in Jeddah on Tuesday night.
