OTTAWA- Canada’s government has issued a travel advisory cautioning against travel to Jammu and Kashmir, India, amid heightened diplomatic tensions, particularly surrounding the Khalistan issue. The advisory strongly advises Canadians to avoid all travel to the region due to an “unpredictable security situation” extending throughout the entire country. It underscores concerns about potential threats such as terrorism, militancy, civil unrest, and kidnapping, urging Canadian citizens in India to exercise a high degree of caution.

This move has further exacerbated the ongoing confrontation between India and Canada. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently alleged the Indian government’s involvement in the fatal shooting of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada expelled New Delhi’s Intelligence Chief in Ottawa, which led to India reciprocating by expelling a senior Canadian diplomat.
