The Indian Navy successfully rescued an Iranian fishing vessel, Al Kambar 786, seized by nine armed pirates in the Arabian Sea on March 29. The vessel, with 23 Pakistani crew members onboard, was hijacked southwest of the Yemeni island of Socotra. Within twelve hours, naval vessels INS Sumedha and INS Trishul conducted a swift rescue operation, compelling the attackers to surrender. India, deploying 21 naval ships with rotating personnel, has intervened in 18 incidents of attacks and kidnappings in the Arabian Sea.
