  • Global glitches hit social media platform X for an hour Social media platform X, which was formerly known as Twitter, experienced global disruptions for about an hour on Thursday.

Downdetector.com, a website that monitors outages by collecting user reports, said that over 47,000 US users had trouble accessing X and X Pro.

Users in the UK and Asia also reported seeing a message that said “Welcome to X!” instead of the usual posts on the site.

The platform, which is owned by billionaire Elon Musk, did not respond to requests for comment. Mr Musk acquired Twitter for $44bn (£35bn) last year.

The hashtag #TwitterDown quickly became a trending topic as users noticed the outages.

However, the issue was resolved in just over an hour and users were able to use the platform again.

X has been struggling with declining advertising revenue since Mr Musk took over the platform.

He has also faced allegations of allowing antisemitic content to appear alongside ads.

The company has filed a lawsuit against Media Matters for America, a progressive advocacy group, for making the claim.
