“International Conference commemorates the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s founding figure Heydar Aliyev”

BAKU: Distinguished political experts and analysts gathered to pay tribute during an international conference commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of the late President and founding figure of Azerbaijan’s independent state, Mr. Heydar Aliyev.

Titled “Heydar Aliyev, Great Leader,” the conference was conducted in a hybrid format and organized by the IMZA Social Development Support Public Union, in honour of the national leader’s centennial anniversary being celebrated this year.

The event attended by the esteemed representatives from various countries around the world, including Turkey, Pakistan, the USA, Russia, Georgia, France, Germany, Italy, and Israel, many of whom had worked in Azerbaijan during Heydar Aliyev’s leadership. Distinguished political scientists, experts, and ambassadors joined the conference to commemorate the legacy of Mr. Aliyev.

The conference also received notable attendees from the Azerbaijani Parliament, including Anar Iskanderov, Elshad Mirbashir, Jeyhun Mammadov, Malahat Ibrahimgizi, Rasim Musabayov, Hikmet Babaoglu, Arzu Nagiyev, Ramil Hasan, Mahir Abbaszadeh, Javanshir Feyziyev, Jala Aliyeva, among others.

The event commenced with the rendition of the national anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by a moment of silence in remembrance of the martyrs. Subsequently, a video tribute to Heydar Aliyev was presented.

Khayyam Askerov, the Chairman of IMZA PU, delivered the opening address during the international conference, which was moderated by Elnar Mammadli, the Director of the International and Public Relations Department at IMZA PU.

He highlighted that President Ilham Aliyev had declared 2023 as the ‘Year of Heydar Aliyev,’ and a series of events commemorating the life and policies of this esteemed leader would be held throughout the year.

The Chairman of IMZA PU said “Today’s IMZA-organized event is part of the broader initiatives dedicated to the visionary policies pursued by the revered leader Heydar Aliyev and the remarkable path he charted for our nation. I am confident that today’s proceedings will delve into the profound philosophy of the Great Leader’s life, as well as his instrumental role as the architect of modern Azerbaijan. Such events are vital to honour and continue the legacy of his remarkable work,” he remarked.

In a notable address, Khayyam Askerov, Chairman of IMZA PU, emphasized the triumphant character of the Azerbaijani state and its people, asserting that they stand as victors. He underscored the pivotal role played by the Great Leader in attaining these victories and revealed that the ongoing event would delve into these significant moments.

Askerov also disclosed plans to continue organizing events throughout the remainder of 2023 that are dedicated to the life philosophy of the esteemed Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, providing further insight and reflection on his legacy.

During a significant gathering, it was emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev has diligently carried out the aspirations of the revered Heydar Aliyev. Heydar Aliyev, described as one of the brilliant figures of the Turkic world and the architect of contemporary Azerbaijan, laid the foundation upon which the nation stands today. His enduring legacy and policies continue under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, signifying an unbroken continuity.

Moreover, President Aliyev’s substantial contributions in strengthening Azerbaijan’s relations with Turkey were lauded, with the phrase “nation, two states” serving as a symbol of the deep-rooted bond between the two nations.

 

The conference featured an array of esteemed speakers, including Anar Iskandarov, a Member of the Azerbaijani Parliament, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on “Heydar Aliyev, the Founder of Independent Azerbaijan.” Distinguished figures like Hulusi Kılıç, former Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Shamil Ayrim, head of the Azerbaijani Friendship Group in the Turkish Parliament, Akkan Suver, Chairman of Marmara Group SAM, and Bashar Kömür, former president of the Congress, also participated.

The event drew international participation, with former ambassadors to Azerbaijan from the United States, France, and Georgia, namely Matthew Bryza, Jean Perrin, and Jean Pierre Ginyut, respectively, adding their perspectives. Notably, Zurab Gumberidze, influential German statesman Otto Hauser, former deputy of the Italian parliament Maria Rizzotti, Sergey Markov, Director General of the Russian Institute of Political Studies, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Hedva Ser, and political expert Mikhail Finkel from Israel, among others, were in attendance, making it a truly global affair.

Prominent Pakistani political expert Mr. Ali Savez, who serves as the head of the International Relations Department at Bol Media Corporation, took part in the conference as the representative of Pakistan.

Addressing the audience virtually, Mr. Ali Savez paid tribute to Heydar Aliyev, recognizing his significance as a remarkable leader not only for the Azerbaijani people but also for fraternal nations. Mr. Savez praised Heydar Aliyev as a visionary statesman, an adept diplomat, and a leader with the remarkable ability to build and maintain strong friendships. He noted Heydar Aliyev’s exceptional skill in guiding the nation through challenging times while ensuring its progress.
